Well, I'm sure you knew that there was something wrong with this stuff. The net is abuzz with backlash. If you are on Facebook please stop clicking like on those photos with a story. Businesses are testing Facebook thought this kind of scam to see if people go for it. Often the stories are not real.
Remember the story about "my sister Mallory" who doesn't think she is beautiful? It was totally fake. Read about it here. Want to know more about how the scam affects you? Read about it on DaylanDoes.
Basically after someone ratchets up a bunch of likes, they often sell
the page with all the likes to another business at a huge profit.
And even Snopes, one of my favorite websites, is also talking about the scam. They did not write their own story about it, however they referred people to DaylanDoes.
Stop liking these obnoxious pages and hopefully it will stop. Stop typing words in their comment section to see what happens. Maybe, just maybe, Facebook will become what it once was, a place for friends to stay together. Well, that is, Facebook will work just fine until the next thing comes along.
