Secret Millionaire - finally some quality TV

Christian values in a secular TV show. If you're like me, you're a bit tired of all the bad television out there. So much of it is poorly scripted, dirty-minded and completely lacking heart.

Here is a show that I think will have Christians and non-Christians talking about positive values and the importance of helping others--no matter whether the point of view is sacred or secular. Here is a preview of the show:

We are the Urban Shakers. Reflections on sects and sex.

The Shaking Quakers or Shakers were one of a wide variety of religious sects which propagated during the early history of our country. The United States of America quickly became a haven for some serious oddballs, even in the years of being colonies. I imagine an adviser going to King George and The Archbishop of Canterbury (who is in charge of the Church of England) saying,

Advisor: Your Majesty, Your Grace, we aren't quite sure what to do with this group. Shakers they call them.
Archbishop of Canterbury: They are a threat to our state-endorsed religion and our holy sacraments. What do you recommend?
Advisor: Your Majesty, Your Grace, with your mandate we can send them to the colonies.
King George: Right-e-o. We can still tax them.
Archbishop of Canterbury: And don't have to worry about their strange religion?
Together: Bonus! Let's do it!

MIA Bloggers and stuff

There are links on other people's blogs that lead to abandoned blogs. The last date of entry might be a year to two years ago. Some have even been deleted. Captain Singleness anyone?

I started looking through the blogs I follow and noticed how many of them stopped posting.

Some of it might be the immediacy of things like Facebook and Twitter as microblogs.

When God doesn't write your love story, Satan does

I attended a classy film screening recently. The film was recently produced by Clint Eastwood about the life of Dave Brubeck. While Dave Brubeck could not attend, his bass player of many years was there. So was the other producer, and a quintet of young men dedicated to studying jazz and the works of Dave Brubeck.

For those who think rock music has the corner on evil people, so did I. But at least the one time I got hit on my a musician, he was polite and not too dsigusting by comparison to this sick jerk I met who calls himself an artist.  He thought I was laughing because I was having a good time.  I can't even repeat some of the things he said to me, they were that explicit.  SICK, SICK, SICK!!!  (So you want to see what I emailed him?)
