Have Sex or Lose Unemployement Benes??

This shocked me:
Under Germany’s welfare reforms, any woman under 55 who has been out of work for more than a year can be forced to take an available job - including in the sex industry - or lose her unemployment benefit. Last month German unemployment rose for the 11th consecutive month to 4,5 million, taking the number out of work to its highest since reunification in 1990.

The government had considered making brothels an exception on moral grounds, but decided that it would be too difficult to distinguish them from bars. As a result, job centres must treat employers looking for a prostitute in the same way as those looking for a dental nurse. (http://sisyphe.org/spip.php?article1573)
How can this be? Part of feminism was to gain rights for women so that they DIDN'T have to resort to such reprehensible careers to support themselves. This isn't so far removed from other countries who sell women into sex slavery. People everywhere should be outraged.

Sex isn't just something you can do without serious risks of disease or that medical condition known as pregnancy. It's most certainly not the same kind of job as being a dental assistant. Don't worry, though. You don't have to have sex for all of these jobs. In the UK, you can get a nude lap dancer job through the unemployment office; no sex required.

Then again, if you do sleep around or take your clothes off, you might as well get paid for it.

Oops, I feel silly. Apparently the report about being forced into prostitution is false. Though the lap dancer one is legit. Check out snopes.com. Honestly, I usually smell these in the air and check Snopes. I fell for it as it was collected with other writings which appeared to be legitimate. At least I only believed it for one day.

I love comments!

You mean getting paid in cash as being different than getting paid in meals, prizes and mortgage payments.
