Support for Haiti

During times of tragedy, people often want to help. They end up making donations to organizations which are actually scams. Please join me in supporting the Salvation Army's efforts in Haiti. They are a legitimate organization whose purpose is to provide aid without prejudice and to glorify God. They have a campaign where you can donate $10 by texting "Haiti" to 52000. It work with all carriers. Please follow any of these links for more news about that.

What does it matter if you give to a scam? Isn't supporting poor nigerians just as important as poor Haitians? Isn't the whole point to just give to make yourself feel better about yourself? If so, what happens to the money after you hit "send" really doesn't matter.

Also, Texting is the slowest way to give. the aid agenxcy doesn't see the money until after you pay your phone bill. 30+ days.

At least it's available for those who want to donate. They may be able to make purchases against the pledged amount or pay a bill over time.

In any case, it does matter. I seriously doubt those "poor nigerians" you are referring to are actually all that poor if they have access to computers.
