A Pain in the Neck, etc.

I already have a pain in the neck because of the accident I had last year, and the other one from the year before that. I have a pain in the shoulder from conducting and then having surgery. I have a pain in the ankle from having sprained my ankle at work 5 times in one year.

And now...The pain in the ankle and the shoulder is back. I went to car car dealership to test drive a Mercedes. I know--what teacher can afford one? I was curious.

My salesperson gave me a handshake over the planter instead of waiting for me to get around it. I didn't know. I stepped on the edge of the planter--something that he knew was there. My foot slipped on the edge leading to an ankle sprain. Yes, my left ankle, the one that I sprained 5 times at work. The man pulled up on my arm to break my fall and wrenched my right arm. Yes, the one that I just had surgery on. I wonder how this works out with these being Work Comp injuries when they want to cut me off any day now. I also wonder how it works out if the party involved in this has already shown that he would lie to stay out of trouble. People lie alot.

I give up. I'm never leaving my house again.

The Beverly Heathens

I was at a local cafe to hop on the internet and I started talking to a guy because he was wearing a college T-shirt from NC state and I used to go to USC--Carolina.
Visitor: It's a beautiful state isn't it?
Savvy: It is. So what bring you out here?
Visitor: Church planting.
Savvy: Really? Church planting? I went to a church out in New York where they strongly believed that someone from an actual place should be the person to start a church plant because they know whats going on.
Visitor: Well, there's something to that, but then there is something to responding to God's call.
Savvy: Yeah, but don't you have your own heathens?
Visitor: Yes.
Savvy: I mean, I lived out there, I know what goes on. Out there everybody goes, but most people don't mean it. They just go--which is kind of nice since everybody goes. It's normal. I'm just curious, what's so special about OUR heathens?
Visitor: To be honest, they're cooler.

He was joking, but California is a magnet. He's also here for Seminary--Global Leadership or something brew-ha-ha sounding. It was an interesting conversation. He, of course, invited me to his church which meets at 5pm on Sundays. Sounds like church for the young who like to party on a Saturday. I'm down with that. Here's the part where I admit that I haven't gone to church in about 4 months.

CHASE me away from your bank!

I'm going to boycott ChaseHave any of you ever heard of being charged for an average daily balance EVEN WHEN YOU PAY OFF YOUR FULL AMOUNT? Yes, that's right, Chase decided to charge me for using my credit card even after I paid off the balance in full. I called and talked to supervisor and she said the charges were valid.

Savvy: And you can't excuse it?
Banker: No, the charges are valid according to your agreement.
Savvy: Let me get this straight...you would rather lose my future business and have me go to other banks than waive a charge for a credit card bill that I paid off in full?
Banker: The average daily balance charges are valid.
Savvy: Not as far as I'm concerned. You have effectively Chased me away from your bank. HAHA Get it?

I'm not alone. This was written TWO YEARS AGO

You Don't Need A Man

I'm coming to the point in my life--a point that many of us have been coming to--of wondering what our lives should be if we never find the one (or anyone). I've been told time and again by Christians and non-Christians that I don't need to be married. The thing is that I had planned on being a wife and a mom. Other than wanting to be an opera singer for a time, I didn't focus on a career because I was going to be a wife and a mom. I used to imagine the conflict of continuing a career vs. getting married. I had people tell me they thought it was sad when I said I should learn how to be my own husband, but here I am four years later--still single. I wanted to be a choir teacher but it didn't work out.
What should I do?
What do I really want to do?

Craigslist 15, Love 0

Craigslist 15 responses...

I thought I might meet someone who hopefully wouldn't kill me and might be nice. Out of those 15, 5 were seriously up to no good. 5 faded away. 1 I unselected. 4 got my number and 2 actually called me. Of those 2, one teased me about living at home and called me cute. That was the last I heard. The other told me he had plans to have dinner with his roommate when I suggested we meet for a drink. He also got upset when I wished him a Happy Mother's Day via text. I found out he has no mom. Haven't heard from him since. Issues. Darn, I thought he was kinda cute. Ah dating, my favorite waste of time. Can't I just meet someone I like and who likes me?

Happy Mother's Day

How rude can you be? As if it's all the single girl's fault! I've heard it all--don't say this, don't say that, don't do this, don't do that. Seriously, I'm throwing away all of my dating books because they simply don't address what really happens in the mind of a man. Not that I was interested in this one. It just so happens that you can find yourself being one of the last two people at an event and on an impromptu date who turns to you and asks...
Man: Do you have to have kids? Do you think that's something you need?
Savvy: (Choking on water.) Ummm...I don't know.
Man: Well, I've already had my kids. My boys are all grown up.
Savvy: I don't know.
Man: I was just wondering because what if you meet someone you really like. Would that be enough for you or do you have to be a mom, too.
Savvy: Ummm...I don't know. I'll let you know when I meet someone that I care about enough to stay with. I would like to be with someone I care about and I know I don't want to raise kids so badly that I'll do it on my own. I don't have some massive agenda of what I have to have and I'll take the nearest man to accomplish it. I know some women are like that. I just don't think it's fair to have any rules on it.
Man: Well, there are no guarantees that if you start with someone that they will still be there. You can end up single again at any time.
Savvy: I don't know.

I was starting to notice that he kept looking at my chest.

Kids? I mean, seriously, I don't know. Do I have to have them with YOU?
